Market to Spa Town

Cheltenham’s transformation from a Market Town to a Spa Town began in 1716 when medicinal waters were discovered in a field to the south of the town and became a resort of national reputation

Regency Era

The Growth of Cheltenham

Cheltenham was at its peak and developed into a major shopping center of chemists, druggists, and shops that sold luxury goods such as china, glass, prints and expensive clothing.
